PHOTOGRAPHY 2

For this project, I had to dive into the world of conceptual character portraiture, using all the photography skills I've picked up along the way. I had to snap two photos: one close-up portrait and another zoomed-out photograph.

In my photograph titled "Pressure Points," I aim to capture the struggles that many young people face regarding their body image. The picture shows a girl with a measuring tape around her neck, pulled tightly from both sides. Her face shows a mix of sadness, fear, and anger.

I want to highlight the pressure young people feel to meet society's standards of beauty. The pulling of the measuring tape represents this pressure and insecurity about their appearance. It shows how quickly these standards can change and how they can make people feel trapped.

Through this photo, I hope to start conversations about the harmful effects of unrealistic beauty standards and encourage self-acceptance and resilience in the face of societal pressures.

FEELING BLUE

My goal was to strike a balance between informative guidance and engaging storytelling.

By sharing specific examples, such as the thematic choices and lighting considerations for each photograph, my intention was to draw readers in and stimulate their imagination.

FEELING BLUE

In my photograph titled "Feeling Blue," I capture the emotion of sadness through a simple yet evocative image. Illuminated by a solitary blue light, a young girl's face emerges from the darkness, her features highlighted against the cool hue.

This photograph serves as a visual representation of the feeling of being blue, conveying a sense of introspection and melancholy. Through the contrast of light and shadow, I aim to evoke an emotional response from viewers, inviting them to reflect on their own experiences of sadness and introspection.

Ultimately, "Feeling Blue" serves as a reminder of the universality of human emotions and the importance of acknowledging and validating feelings of sadness as part of the human experience.

PRESSURE POINTS

I transferred the images to a computer for editing using software like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I cropped, straightened, and retouched the images to eliminate distractions or imperfections and improve the composition. Additionally, I fine-tuned the color balance, contrast, and saturation to elevate the visual impact of the images.
